When I was a freshman in college, a friend of mine mentioned that she had recently gone on a date with someone she met through a dating app called Bumble. I knew of Tinder, but I have never heard of Bumble.

It goes beyond one month

In the fourth grade for Women’s History Month, I had to choose from a list of women to dress up as and pretend to be for one day. I remember looking down at the list, reading name after name.

All had the same common theme. They were mostly white women.

Is the master’s the new bachelor’s?

From a young age, my mom and I for fun would create vision boards of what we wanted our future to look like. My usual vision boards had everything from how I wanted my wedding to be to the career and school I wanted to attend.

Letter from the Editor: Journalists can do better

In creating this issue we understood that as non-Black people of color we don’t have the perspectives of Black people, but nonetheless we want to be able to uplift Black voices.

This is not a one-time issue with diverse stories and writers. It is a continued commitment to covering stories that reflect Long Beach State’s and the community’s diversity.

Column: Bittersweet farewell

It’s strange to realize that I’m going to end my community college journey inside of my home, sitting on my couch dressed in my cap and gown watching my graduation ceremony virtually.

The high school class of 2020 was born after 9/11 and saw the first African-American president inaugurated when they were in second grade. Now, their first taste of adulthood is marked by the pandemic.
